Chef Christopher Stonesifer has become a much sought after gourmet chef in the Hill Country of Texas. His passion for cooking from scratch with mainly organic ingredients, herbs and local game goes hand in hand with his joy of sharing his extensive culinary knowledge with others. This classically trained Chef knew from a very young age what he wanted to be when he grew up. A sixth generation Texan, Christopher spent many a day on his grandparents ranch and his favorite place even then was the kitchen. He loved watching his grandmother create dishes using fresh ingredients raised and grown on the land. He grew up with the philosophy that the best tasting cuisine is made when working from the heart. “Everything is energy, when we create with attentiveness and joy that is when food is transformed into something memorable.”
Chef Christopher received his Certificat de Practique de la Cuisine Francaise from the Hotel Sofitel School of French Culinary Skills graduating with honors and then went on to receive a Masterworks Degree from the Culinary Institute of America in Napa . He was fortunate to have been an apprentice to top French and Italian Chefs, giving him a deep understanding of culinary techniques, applications and the industry’s ever changing trends. Chef Stonesifer held the enviable position of Executive Chef at Chartwell’s of Southwest Texas University , now Texas State University , preparing elaborate gourmet meals from small intimate dinners for the Dean of the University to banquets for thousands. Chef Stonesifer is on the board of the Texas Chefs Association / American Culinary Federation San Antonio Chapter, as the Culinary Educator and in 2004 he was named Chef of the Year.
With over four years as the Executive Chef for an exclusive country inn based in Wimberley Texas , Chef Stonesifer has built a reputation as both an outstanding gourmet chef and a noted culinary educator. His passion, wit and culinary knowledge have endeared him to the many guests joining him in the cooking classes, making him a noted teacher both nationally and internationally. The year of 2006 saw this down to earth Texas Chef, becoming something of a celebrity with one of his cooking classes being aired on the Food Network in the summer. Since then Chef Christopher, has opened up Timmeron Culinary Retreat, situated a stone's throw from the beautiful Blanco River in Wimberley, Texas.
